It is odd that the implication is still alive, even here, that there is a virus which can be transmitted from one to the other, when at no time in the entire history of virology has one of these viruses ever been isolated and shown to obey Koch's Postulates for an infectious organism.

Still more odd is the idea that there can be a variant bearing random Greek nomenclature, when there has never been shown to be an original from which the variant can be said to diverge - in fact the basis of the claim rests on the fact that whereas originally, amplification of three primers from the PCR test was required to assert positivity, now only two are required, so in fact a diagnosis of omicron infection can now be made despite the fact that the person would a few short weeks ago have been declared coronavirus negative.

Perhaps the entire tale is a mere clumsy confection, whose purpose is not epidemiological, but economic and totalitarian in its nature and intent.
