“Blinken Says U.S. Is Eyeing Ways for Poland to Supply Jets to Ukraine,” reads March 6 headline in the Wall Street Journal. The article came on the same day Antony Blinken appeared on the CBC News program “Face the Nation.” In the course of the interview, Blinken was asked if the US would approve a transfer of military jets to Ukraine from a NATO country. Without missing a beat, he replied:
I hate to simplify all of this but the people in the biden admin are just not that smart. That's really what it comes down to. Dumb people with this kind of power; it's no wonder we are staring down the barrel of WW3.
This interview is recommended: it doesn't specifically mention Poland, but Sven Hughes is a voice of reasoned experience in the wilderness of posturing political pieties.
As to Poland, why would such a well educated patriotic nation, with its all too recent history , be willing to agree to the latest round of outsourcing by DOTUS and co?
Note, I use DOTUS rather than POTUS, as a more accurate description of Biden's cognitive functioning.
Hi Mr. Kohlmayer. I just signed in to say thank you. I have been perusing your musings for a few years now, and I find it perfectly amusing how often I tend to agree with you.
Personally, I would consider that the idea of giving Polish jets to Ukraine is merely American window-dressing, rather than a genuine desire to initiate WW3.
This is because a jet can do nothing without missiles, and even then, Russia has shown that it has the number of these jets, because something like 98 of them have been knocked out of the skies already, and a few more from Poland would doubtless meet the same fate.
I expect the idea sprang from the fertile brain of Victoria Nudelman, because she is renowned for, as the ancient Greeks were, "bearing gifts," as she showed with her generosity in giving cookies to those assembled - mostly peacefully - in Maidan Square in a recent time.
I think it highly unlikely that the Kremlin would begin direct attacks against Poland because of the transfer of these items; far better to just knock them down as soon as Ukraine puts them up.
Obviously, 90% of Ukraine's airfields are out of action anyway, and we hear today that two more have been rendered inoperative in western Ukraine, so other than flying from the airbases in adjacent nations, which would be casus belli, then these planes are at best a liability, even assuming pilots could be found to fly them.

Another extremely worrying development is this:

"....The idea to give Polish jets to Russia clearly came from the American side. ..."
A little more reviewing content before pressing "Send" might be worth considering, Vasko.
Nailed it.
